In 1803 the art world changed forever . . . John James Audubon came to America.

John James Audubon State Park and Museum, in Henderson, KY features the world's largest collection of Audubon memorabilia and also houses an extensive collection of his work. The park preserves the peaceful woods where the famed naturalist walked as he observed the subjects of his paintings, and the museum features four galleries dedicated to Audubon's life, work, and legacy.

The City of Henderson, Kentucky is proud to be recognized as "The Kentucky Home of John James Audubon".


Sculptor Raymond Graf

Kentucky native Raymond Graf graduated from Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky with a background in sculpture, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, and stone carving. During the past twenty years of his career, however, Graf has focused on cast-bronze sculpture and portraiture.

Graf's oeuvre of portraiture in Louisville can be viewed in his statues of J. Graham Brown, Tom Simons, Al Schneider, Finis E. Davis, Father James Maloney, Harold Henry "PeeWee" Reese, and the cardinal mascot of the University of Louisville.

His non-figurative public sculpture projects includes the golden finial atop Actors Theatre of Louisville, a stainless steel bike rack in downtown Louisville, and Henderson's eight life sized bird sculptures based on Graf's interpretations of Audubon paintings.

The "Great Blue Heron" by Graf is the first out of an edition limited to 200 pieces, and is based on the John James Audubon painting Great Blue Heron. Second in the limited-edition series is "The Wild Turkey Cock", limited to 250 individually cast pieces. This series of miniature bronze scultpures is based on the Henderson, Kentucky, public arts project that features life-sized sculptures taken from Audubon paintings.
